I've seen people describe him as a natural goalscorer.

We haven't seen enough of him yet to be described like that but I can see where people are coming from, that doesn't mean he's being hyped up though.

He appears to be pretty composed in front of goal, especially for a player that is only 19 years old and only stepped into professional football in January. From his goals at academy level, his goal against Rovers and his 2 goals last night, he takes them very well. He definitely knows where the net is and how to finish.

My issue is him actually being able to get into those position frequently enough in League 2 and at the moment, I don't believe he can.

He also fluffed a few chances in other games last season.

Look, I'm not here to bash the kid because he's one of our players and ultimately want him to do well. Inevitably, if he started coming around to being a new Jordan Rhodes type I'll have some saying I doubted him, claiming "Alby is suddenly quiet" or more along those lines - I WANT him to do well. I've just seen next to nothing to convince me he's actually worth the crowing of calls for appearences.
He runs around and throws his arms about, that seems to be all I've seen thus far - not to say he won't offer more if given the game time but given I saw every appearence be made last season that's all I can go by. If that's what people get excited about then, we'll, good for them. Doesn't do it for me.

I think Devoy has been the most promising of the “fringe” players but the issue with Devoy, Dean and Burns is that they are so lightweight.

If Devoy could improve his strength both on and off the ball, it’ll enhance him greatly.

Yep, the guy just needs protein shakes and to do weights. Seriously though when he's 26 he will be playing in the Championship if he bulks up, he is excellent on the ball - it's just getting the ball in the first place which is the problem at the moment.

A little note for those who seek to belittle our result. We are currently the only side to have beaten a premiership under 21 team so far.

Also they may be youngsters but they can certainly play a very good standard of football.

I certainly saw a lot of positives in the performance of our lads last night.

I don't think anyone is knocking our performance, but there isn't much you can learn from a result like that.

We can only beat who we have in front of us, but think the young lads from their side will be more upbeat about what they learnt than us and what we learnt. I'm more concerned about how we'd have fared against League One sides

What they have learnt:

They aren"t as good as a league 2 mix of squad and youth players.

What we have learnt

Our mix of squad and youth players are better than a U21 side
You can play good football and win comfortably
Both Dean and Dennis can score goals
Grant & Devoy can play well togther

Lessons learnt Dons 4 Chelsea U21s 1

Are you a Chelsea U21 fan? I'm going to guess not, pretty sure you can't conclude foe them what they can take away from a result like that.

In the same way a Chelsea U21 fan will have zero clue how to assess what we learnt against their side.

You had to be there :D and similarly you don't know that Chelsea U21 took more from it nor that they are more upbeat, despite losing 4-1

I'd wager that young kids playing against men for possibly the first time competitively will learn more than grown men playing against kids
