Will be watching from the way end today and looking forward to an entertaining game, should be a good one as Maidstone have said they will come to attack and are not playing for a replay
I've been surprised by the style and tactics of many non-league teams in the FA Cup over last few years. There's still an oft quoted idea that lower league / non-league is "proper" up-and-at-em football compared to the top-flight; but so many teams now, even non-league, are trying to play football and the pitches, even at those levels, are more conducive to it. You don't see many pitches like the Hereford-Newcastle game and the smaller teams aren't looking to just kick the bigger teams out of their stride anymore and trying to stop a football game breaking out; and instead are looking to match them on the day.
I thought Fylde were a good example of this. Despite going behind to a Will Grigg goal, they battled well, defended resolutely and despite having little up front , matched Wigan technically for a lot of the time.
