THE APL PREDICTION LEAGUE & PREVIEW - FLEETWOOD
Fleetwood are next up, and it’s been three weeks since we have darkened the doorsteps of Stadium MK, and even before that some of us will be making the short trip to Oxford to see our final group game in the Checkatrade Trophy, so possibly a bit of much needed game time for the likes of Pawlett, Muirhead, BTA, Rasulo etc.

Looking back at Fridays game, my fears and that of some others were quickly dispelled, I had convinced myself we would struggle against one of the lowest ranked teams left in the FA Cup, but after seeing the team news I doubted no longer.

We put in a professional performance, and dominated from start to finish with Hyde players chasing shadows all night, and all bar two unmarked headers, which isn’t the first time this season, it was just a case of how many.

Although we shouldn’t lose sight of the standard of the opposition, it won’t have done us any harm to have knocked the ball about for 90 minutes with a possession rate in the high seventies, especially after some of our horror displays of late.

There haven’t been many players that have put in good performances all season, but I think that Nesbitt is quickly establishing himself as someone that should be considered for a start, quick, passionate, skilful, and knows where the goal is. He gives that impression that with the ball at his feet something is going to happen and already has become a bit of a fans favourite.

Just a word on Hyde before we press on, I don’t think I’m alone in feeling genuinely sorry for them, their big day was spoiled by total low life idiots, their staff were fantastic as was their hospitality, sadly though I think they underestimated any potential flash points....no pun intended.

It saddened me to see at least two families leave the game at halftime as their kids were terrified at what was going on, and although I haven’t got confirmation, reports are also doing the rounds of taxis being drafted in to take back some our fans to hotels, and on that note kudos to Hyde United, who I’m told arranged and paid for the said taxis.

Their stewards were largely ineffective as the youth of Manchester did as they liked, but hopefully social media will be their downfall as Hyde are gathering evidence to bring the scum to justice, it would be a great shame if the income that was going to support their club for ten years was then lost on repairs to the pitch and FA fines.

One final thing, well done to our stewards who put the fires out, whilst the home stewards just stood and watched like rabbits caught in the glare of a cars headlights.

Right, moving on and back to league business, let’s see if we can put on a convincing display against the Cod Army.

He has also represented East Germany at U 21’s (6) and the full national side (5).

That little lot adds up to 419 games and 112 goals at club level.

His managerial career started in 2004 with Lillestrom; further clubs include Viking, Molde, Brentford, Wigan, Leeds United, and now Fleetwood since July 2016.

YOU’VE GOT NO HISTORY
Fleetwood were formed in 1907 and this is the third incarnation of the club. The club first played in the Football League in the 2012/13 season after winning the Football Conference the year before.

Fleetwood were promoted into League 1 after winning the League 2 Playoff Final beating Burton Albion 1-0, their 6th promotion in 10 seasons.

The current club was re-established in 1997 and formerly played in the Conference North, Lancashire Combination, the Northern Premier League, the Cheshire League and the North-West Counties League.

The club first made all its players full-time professionals in the 2010/11 season, although this resulted in them having to off load several player’s. In that season they reached the play- off semi-finals losing 8-1 on aggregate to a pub team from Kingston, but still set a then new attendance record for the home leg of 4,112.

The grounds current capacity stands at 5,311 with 2,627 seated; it is the 112th largest stadium by capacity in England and the smallest in League 1.

The highest transfer money received was £1m for Jamie Vardy to Leicester City, potentially rising to £1.7m, at the time it was a record non-league sale.

In the year of our formation 2004 Fleetwood’s average home attendance was just 206 and has risen every year to the current 3,876.
