We are hugely reliant on Dean and Payne. The two of them set the tempo for the whole team, never stop running and are the ones who show the extra bits of quality to win games. If either get injured we will have a big problem as the rest are nowhere near their standard. I thought Lewington had a good game today. We just look better with him back there, he was excellent today albeit against an utterly hopeless FGR attack. There is something very wrong with FGR. They didn’t care on that pitch today. Absolutely abysmal. |

I presume we are at risk of a Payne recall in Jan? |

No recall clause in Payne loan - he is definitely here for the whole season |

My MOM was Jack Payne, another great performance, he really has become a key player in this team and I would love to sign him on a permanent if possible, the nutmeg on Troy Deeley was sublime, even he saw the funny side of that, but Paynes link up play, his desire to drive the team on and have a crack at goal makes him stand out, compared to Gilbey today that was like night and day. Our Max keeps adding a few quid to his value every game, another cracking finish from him today. So just a couple of points off the play offs, with games in hand, it’s certainly looking much better than a few weeks ago It felt a lot colder once we got into the wind outside too We really enjoyed it today in the first half ....Payne was so good both on and off the ball...our best player by a mile . Rovers were terrible but what the hell its a win and we are back in the right half ! |

Yes i expect Payne will be a decent cost to us. He never really got going at Charlton, but he was playing further up the park for them in a more physical league. He is playing deeper for us since MW came in , and he really suits that position. He reminds me of Barry Bannan at Sheff Wed in this position he is playing at the moment. he gets more space as he is deeper , and his football brain and the fact he is 2 footed means he is incredibly effective for us. He has been man of the match pretty much every game under Williamson. |
