I’ve said it before but you should all get together and arrange an annual trip to Merton Town Hall to see the cup.

[sigh]

We didn't win it 30 years ago, we were founded 2004. The limited company was incorporated in 2003 with the trade and assets transferred from the old company. You can't transfer history of course. Much of the debt would have been written off too of course.

Claiming we won the FA Cup 30 years ago or that we are the real Dons or any of that bollocks is what gives us a bad name.

Time to move on.

You are confusing the Owners with the Football club, owners change all the time, think Man City with the Shieks or Man United with the Warners or even Crystal Palace. The club stayed the same just the owners changed. The only difference between MK Dons and the three examples is that none of them applied for a name change.

The legal entity changed, incorporated 2003.

Exactly the club belonged to the old legal entity and then it belonged to the new legal entity. The fundemental question is if the new Legal Entity created the new club "Milton Keynes Dons", why did the old Legal Entity apply to the Football League to change the name of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes Dons. AND as the Football League gave permission for the name change, they would not have allowed a new team to be called the same name as an existing team.

why did the old Legal Entity apply to the Football League to change the name of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes Dons

- because it wanted to start a new club

AND as the Football League gave permission for the name change, they would not have allowed a new team to be called the same name as an existing team

- I don't follow you here. The new team does have a different name to the existing team.

The thing is Wimbledon were a shit dirty team with no fans who fluked a cup win. We wiped the slate clean and started a new club retaining only the league position, a ginger man and a goalkeeping coach.
