Er.....no need for graphs....we were bad, got worse, and then got even worse again.
Er, no actually.

But that doesn’t fit the narrative does it.
This.

I’ve watched an animation called The Shadoks And The Gibis. The Gibis are intelligent, but the Shadocks can only hold four facts in their brains at once. So if a new fact comes along, they have to forget one of the things they already know to accommodate it, and they end up only ‘knowing’ the last four things they’ve seen.

That, in a nutshell, is many of our fans.

I loved that show. French I think? Mid-70s. Tried to find it on the you-tubes a few years ago but failed.

That's four things. I've now forgotten Dan.

And if you don't like them, stop coming here looking at them & then whining about them...

Explanation:
These are intended to track a club’s long-term performance, plus whether this was an underachievement or an overachievement based on the balance of chances created.

There are two lines:
1.The blue line shows the rolling average of a club’s goal difference over the last 10 league games;
2.The red line shows the rolling average of their expected goal difference, based on the quality of chances they’ve created and faced.

Comparing these two allows us to see not only how a club’s performances have changed over time, but also whether there were any differences between the balance of chances created (a useful measure of underlying performance) and goals scored.

These are shaded as follows:
◾Blue shaded areas are where actual goal difference is higher than the chances created, suggesting an overachievement;
◾Red shaded areas show the reverse, where the balance of chances was healthier than the actual goal difference, signalling underachievement.

It's Pete's train set and you should all feel honoured to be granted the privilege of paying to watch him play with it.
