We apologise for the brief delay in issuing a statement but wished to engage with the club first on the recent events that took place over the weekend during the Oxford game. We are now able to comment as follows.

“The MKDSA would like to put on record it’s concern regarding the recent incident at Oxford United. Due to the use of a pyro that resulted in a serious incident to one of our own fans & distress to a number of others who were also affected in the vicinity.”

“A pyro was used during the celebration of our first goal & then thrown near to the disability area at the front of the away end. This resulted in one of our fans needing the urgent attention of paramedics & being taken out of the game for treatment after suffering several seizures, also causing great distress to those nearby who were affected due to aggravated bronchial & other conditions.”

“Whilst we understand all our fans want to enjoy & celebrate our success, the safety of every individual is paramount & we totally condemn any action that puts any of our fans, players or any individual at risk.”

We don’t wish to go into exact detail of the incident that occurred as this is currently a police investigation, but we call on our supporters to put an end to anything that puts not only those around us at serious risk to their health but also brings the club into disrepute & the financial impact this places on to our club.”

“We have spoken to the club directly on this today & will work with them as far as possible on this matter”.

“Furthermore, we also call on the club to use all of its resources to educate those who engage in this, on the impact & consequences this behaviour carries.”

“Anyone who is identified as an offender will be reported by clubs to the police & prosecution could result in a permanent criminal record, which may affect their employment & education, with the possibility of a prison sentence. Furthermore, they will now receive an automatic club ban. These bans could also be extended to accompanying parents or guardians of children who take part in these activities.”

“We want all our fans to be able to get behind our team, enjoy the football & make sure that everyone can enjoy their time in a safe & sensible way.”“Every fan makes the difference to our team, & we don’t wish to see anyone getting bans, prosecutions or bringing the name of our great club into disrepute for a moment of reckless behaviour. Finally, we would just like to wish those affected a speedy recovery; our thoughts are with you all & we look forward to seeing you back to full health with the MK Family soon”

Aiden Gray
MKDSA Chairman

It has become a regular occurrence. The difference this time being that it resulted in somebody requiring medical attention.

Too many young naive fans trying to "Prove something"

Agreed daft idiots thinking they're " big hard men" when they're just silly boys. This, the bottle throwing and the unacceptable chanting as heard last season are all moronic. Only negative stuff comes out of this and it achieves absolutely nothing.

This needs to stop, it’s moronic behaviour and letting off pyros will cause serious incidents, as witnessed at Oxford.

Mindless idiots involved in this activity should rightly be banned from stadiums.

Its sad to see this becoming a “thing” with our supporters.

Exactly of course it's common across football at the moment but it isn't the character of the club or general support here. Yes some morons have been slipping in recent years but it's still thankfully a mindless minority.

I agree with the above, but our comments on here won't (obvs) change a thing. (That's not a criticism of the posts)
It needs robust action by club/police/court to stop it. Then the message will get through to even the thickest.
Here's hoping.
