I understand that if the bar staff don't know then thats a bit naughty, but is it really the biggest issue we have right now? When you get discounted food offers at supermarkets they don't make an announcement or have a ticker tape parade acknowledging the discount has ended. I mean I have a clubcard necter card and the new asda app and I expect an email or letter to advise me of such as I am such a "valued" customer of all those three supermarkets.
As for the price of things. Its food and drink (well I assume it is) of course things are going to increase again supermarkets dont tell you a tin of beans will increase in price twice in three months, but they have cause I noticed that they have. Fact of life. This is the world we live in now. It's not good, but if we are the only club that has done it then maybe we have an aggrievance, but I doubt that we are.
I really dont think that any of this would be as a bigger issue if we were in the 2nd tier or at least had a good start, but when people (rightly or wrongly) have said the squad is a shadow of itself and we could be in for our worst start in 5 years then you already have the hump the little things will be more noticeable. Again, no slight on anyone just a fact of human nature.
That’s spot on and I agree entirely with both yours and Pete’s reasoning about “you don’t announce what you’re
not getting in any literature”. I was probably one of a small number of fans who did spot the lack of mention of the 5% discount in the ST brochure, but that was mainly through weighing up the pros and cons because of the changes to Club Red and almost expecting things like that., but I can understand the frustration from many that it’s been done though the back door.
I get the desire to increase revenues and tighten up expenditure, as for too long the club has let so many issues slide, but I’ve spent many years in meetings with key officials there as part of various focus groups and it’s always been acknowledged that the club had a problem with “ghosting” (passing around Season Tickets), multiple entires on the same tickets, adults buying family ST tickets then sneaking their mates from the pub or work in on the kids one, buying in the Cowshed then sitting in East Premium, repeated failed direct debits not being chased up but the owner still getting in etc.. but was always met with an attitude of “well, it’s more important we grow the fanbase than alienate one individual”. I suspect that’s going to change too. I’d sooner issues like that where historically we’ve leaked potential income like a sieve are addressed than the cutting back of matchday staff, minor price increases and cuts affecting the matchday experience.
