I figured the new boy deserved a thread in addition to the discussions in the bigger January Transfers thread. Not sure the squad number has been announced though??

Seems a low-risk, low-stake transfer for a young lad in very good goalscoring form who now reunites with his former manager. I don't recall him at all at Sunderland. But looking forward to seeing him in a MK shirt.

Do you think he'll be an immediate regular starter, or someone to ease in gradually / off the bench?

Don’t know a great deal about him, seems to have been in good form for Gateshead this season, knocked a few goals in and some assists, I don’t see him in the starting eleven, certainly not yet, but he does seem a very capable player and could be used in tactical substitutions.

Wish him well here

Wearne is a good player.

When Williamson was being touted as our boss in the aftermath of Alexander leaving I started to binge watch their extended highlights online. Wearne was one of their most important players, averaging about 0.4 goals a game from attacking midfield. He also has great link up play. He's definitely got the attributes to start in this league - whether it's as a regular or a rotation player who knows.

I expect him to be a regular starter for a L1 side within a few years, whether it's with us or someone else.

I cant say Ive ever seen him but its the type of playing a good proportion of the fanbase have been screaming out for us to recruit, normally citing 'thats what Peterborough do'.

Low risk with high reward if he can make the step up for me. I dont think he will be a regular starter, particularly if Kemp both stays and works out but hopefully he will still get a good amount of game time.

I posted this in the transfer thread but it's more relevant here to be honest.

From a Grimsby fan on TFF:

Quote:
I liked the look of Wearne when he was here but unfortunately Hurst liked his wingers to double up as full backs and Wearne just didn't seem like that sort of player. Even so, he was given a ridiculously low amount of chances. Despite this, he chose to come back and fight for a place after a decent loan spell at Torquay (?) midway through last season when he was basically told he was surplus to requirements. Seemed a bit lightweight from what I remember but was clever and tricky. Williamson obviously knows how to use him from his time at Gateshead, so I'd be pleased with this signing if I was an MKD fan. Fully expecting Weane to be a case of someone who slipped through our fingers.

Been excellent in his cameos and was superb today and showed he has multiple facets to his game. Really good link up play at times and surprised me how quick he is. Really thrown a spanner in the works now Dean is a long termer and Harrison is MIA. Could be a genuine option up front going forward and not there to just "do a job".

Cracking player, two assists today and doing a cracking job as our makeshift 9. MW has a conundrum for when Dean is back in terms of how to accommodate him, Wearne, Gilbey and Kemp upfront! What a great problem to have.

A hidden gem.
