Durham wont say MK Dons because he thinks the club should ditch the connection with Wimbledon. In a way I think he he right, its time to move on. This club is in Milton Keynes and has a whole new young generation of fans who know nothing of the old Wimbledon and want to support their local team. When I take my son to watch the games and dont tell him about Wimbledon and their history, to me MK Dons is a different team. What are the positives in keeping the name and connection to Wimbledon?

It's a mark of respect for those original Wimbledon fans who stuck with the team and put up with a lot of shit for doing so. More shit than you or i will ever have to deal with.

As far as I'm concerned, it should stay for as long as they want it to stay.

I've often thought about this too - dropping the Dons and moving on. But I am a relative newbie and it wasn't until the AFC game that I really realised how strong a connection there still is for many fans who came over with the team.

I think it should happen one day. But not now.

No you haven't , you have just said the young fans have no connection with Wimbledon, which really depends on them. What they do have is a connection with MK Dons. What bitterness / harm is it causing young fans?

As long as it pisses off the KFC deserters, then we should keep it.

Because as we know, they're all ladybits.

As we see in the media and other clubs there is a clear hatred towards the club because of continued connection with Wimbledon. So this is used to try and humiliate dons fans. You must of seen this? On the other hand MK Dons has created its own history along the way and has made its own identity with the dons name and may just cause further upset amongst fans.

Hatred is going too far, except in the warp mind of a certain south london club and I haven't seen it affect player transfers etc. So what if certain fans and people in the media don't like us? I really don't understand the last part, are you saying that MK Dons own history is creating upset amongst fans? Our current situation is, but I think we can be proud of the history we have made.

When I used to have a wireless show many moons ago, our first ever guest, on out first ever show was Karl, Don't Call Him Fat, Robbo.

I asked him if the history of the club ever effected transfers etc'. His answer...

"Never".

I meant that changing the name or dropping 'Dons' from the name might cause upset due to it being used for quite a long time now and the history that has been made in the meantime.
