Normally I get quite frustrated at MW's positive interviews after a defeat, but today I genuinely don't think you can fault the players. A lot of them had a bit of an off day but they genuinely did give it everything and just came up short.

It’s not about effort! You could grab 11 lads off the street and I’m sure they’d try as hard as they could for 90 minutes, surely that’s a given and nothing to celebrate. The issue was the lack of bravery to play the way we can rather than just hoofing it long at every opportunity.

We hardly hoofed it.

Well I was there and 50 yard passes down the middle is “hoofing” it in my book.

I agree....there was a lot of passing at times when a hoof or at least a cross would have been justified

I'm looking in the bright side that we can have a glorious winning day out in the sun at Wembley

Just to caveat

I think we will ultimately fail in the play offs but win the League next season

Don’t share your enthusiasm for winning the league next season, we’ll lose Dean, O Hora, possibly one or two more and all the current loan players, it’s going to be another massive rebuild if we fail to go up

I'm not saying we should be sat here celebrating a 4-1 loss, but I'm also saying we shouldn't start slagging off the team that's got us into this position. These are good players, but sadly Stockport, Wrexham and Mansfield are just better than us. They're in the top 3 because they are simply the best 3 teams in the league - and a level above everyone else. When you have an off day against a team that's better than you, this is what happens.

Not let down as the players gave their all. Just two poor goals to concede. I don't count the last two when we were chasing the game. Mansfield nicked our going up song too.

Very much this.
