My youngest (16) and his friends wan to do Stockport away as their first solo away game. Never been myself so can anyone give me an idea if it’s a relatively simple and safe experience?

I would rather they do FGR but the journey to Stockport seems a lot easier.

Cheers

He could always use the official away travel run by the MKDSA , it’s safe and fans are dropped outside the away turnstiles.

I did mention that to him but apparently, thats would be 'Dead', which I presume is a bad thing! Also, he will be playing football in the morning and the the train leaves 30 minutes later which makes it just possible to catch

Ha ha , the coach is not for everyone lol.

I went to Stockport on my own when I was about 12 or 13. Mind you that was 70 years ago, so not much of a guide as to what it's like now. ( We lost 4-0 )

The last time I went to Stockport was probably 1974 or 75. I was a student in Manchester, mostly went to Old Trafford but occasionally Maine Road. And at one time or another went to see all the local teams, Oldham, Bury, Bolton, Rochdale and Salford Rugby League at Weast Lane.

We do have a meet scheduled with the EVF (Edgeley Volunteer Force) so would steer your boy away from the town centre around 1pm. It’s a 10 on 10 if he does fancy it but will need casual clobber. No tools.

He doesnt have any Stone Island gear but I could probably rustle him up some Sergio Tacchinni clobber. Would that do?

Fair enough. Is he a runner?

I went the game in 2008. As Camden says, the train station is close by so should be fine. I had a bit of a walk back to the car where we parked and we were walking away with a lot of the home fans, so keep your head down if doing that. Although last time, there was a gathering of us outside the away end rather jolly at the result. Hope for nice weather as well!
