Before the meltdown happens about ‘missing out’ on him, two of his goals were very easy and the third he tried really hard to miss. Yes he had to be in the right position, but there should be no need for hyperbole.

Yea.....what about the other 20 goals this season...got a good excuse for them?

Yes It's so easy to score a hat-trick and good of him to try to miss the third.

He only scored 7 in one random season.
So if you just focus on that and ignore all the 20 goal + seasons then he really isn't all that great. ;)


Point taken. Hes clearly not a patch on agard who consistently score 7 a season!

But we never had Kane on loan or were in negotiations to buy him permanently or were reasonably close to agreeing a fee.
It's a completely false comparison.
We can't afford Grigg now. But back then we could have but opted not to.

But if you only focus on one season of Grigg's career then we made the right call. :D
If you acknowledge all of his 20 goal plus seasons, then maybe we got it wrong. :(


Whatever we offered, Wigan would have topped. We couldn’t get anywhere near the wages. I agree he’s a good player but it’s an academic discussion.

He’s a class act, no denying that, would have loved to sign him, but bottom line on that fact is simply we couldn’t afford him, unfortunately

He is unstoppable in League 1, I look forward to monitoring his progress in the Champioship next year.

This. It's not just his costs, but the costs of giving everyone else on the team pay rises are we've completely smashed our normal wage structure as well. It was completely unsustainable.
