It wasn’t. It was a small plank of wood. The video of that (a very cowardly attack from behind) was also up on twitter. Not sure if it’s been removed.

I know there has been significant R&D into those but they don’t really exist yet beyond testing to my knowledge, so it seems unlikely it would be used in a fan fight outside a stadium in Birkenhead.
