It’s to do with the entry points and partitioning. Any more than the 7,800 and they would have to enter the ground via the home entrances and share the facilities (toilets, bars etc). I know your utopian view wouldn’t see a problem ( ), but it’s never going to happen.

I’m not disagreeing with you, I agree, but that’s the way it is. It could of course be problems away from the stadium or outside?

I guess so. It’s a pretty sad reflection on football that this is necessary.

Well the family stand should allow away families in (you know like most clubs).

I agree. But I have a mate who is a Luton STH and he's a very pleasant chap but he's the first to admit that among their supporters are some very very unpleasant people.

Really where do they do that? I spent the last few years in our family block and I most certainly wouldn't have if there were away fans welcome; surely that is just asking for non-family friendly language and behaviour?

Why would there be non-family friendly language/behaviour? You only allow young families in, just because they're away fans doesn't mean they'' misbehave in front of their kids.

Surely bad language / behaviour becomes more likely if you mix the two sets of supporters? You're putting an awful lot of faith in parents not wishing to swear in front of their children - which I can say I hear a lot of just in normal society, public transport, etc. Add to that the pressure of a football match, and the close proximity of rival fans (potentially sat next to you), and I'd be amazed if it passed off as pleasantly as you suggest with no non-family appropriate incidents.

Limit it to ABC1s then. We do need to continue the good work of gentrification of football.

so God knows what they charge for Six Nations Games.

Had lunch with some friends yesterday who are going to England v Wales. It's £100 a pop, or thereabouts.

Also at the lunch was a Scot who saw Scotland v Italy (I think) at Murrayfield for £60-odd quid, and saw the same fixture repeated, at the same ground, 9 months later as part of a World Cup and it was £150. The details are a bit vague (I wasn't paying attention) but you get the point. Massively expensive, reflecting it's largely middle-class market. Same as when I go to Lords for test cricket.
