I don't think he'll be any less hamstrung in League Twonat Salford than he was in League One with us.
Ultimately if he has them top 12 minimum as he did with us (as they should be) for a few seasons he'll be safe. As much as you'll have a few big hitters each year like Stockport, Wrexham, Mansfield and Notts (us too if we're being generous to ourselves) he had that each year in League One with us with Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Charlton, Portsmouth, Preston, Bristol City, Wolves etc etc.
If he gets two years to implement a style and identity he's proven he can put together a side where he can be competitive with "the best of the rest" like we were with Posh, Huddersfield, Swindon, Orient, Brentford etc.
They could feasibly be playoffs or more next season if he gets them back on track this year. They might not be moneybags United everyone thinks they are but they're not broke and they're still riding the ambitious and quite attractive proposition they have been. Play good football and there's no reason they'll be any less attractive than most other sides at this level if you know you're a player playing L2 football.
Makes sense for him. I think building a side and shaping it to your identity in L2 is a lot more exciting than what he probably could get in League One - staving off relegation.
It's sweet how much you still love him. A bit like D50 and Shaun Williams.
