So I think we can all agree the draw for the most important competition has been made the EFL Trophy and we will be in Southern Group F with League One sides Northampton  and Oxford  , the group will be completed by a Prem or Championship U21 side.
Shockingly the competition has yet to name a new sponsor this year which given the worldwide coverage it garners and the packed stadia across the land is almost incomprehensible. I imagine an hitherto unnamed Saudi energy drink will soon snap up the opportunity.
Tickets have yet to go on sale but expect them only to be open to fans who have over five years as season ticket holders and at least 10 away games from the COVID season.
And finally book the date, the train and of course the open bus parade the final will be on Sunday 7 April 2024
Feel free to share your thoughts on how we will do this season....

I'll give them £100 to sponsor it.

The 'Alby Is A Slaphead Wanker Trophy' has a good ring to it.

Supported by the 'Dippy Charlton Combover Shield'.

True. Although it could be 'The Good Ring Trophy' I suppose.
Sponsored by Andrex?

It’s worth pointing out that the competition is actually still sponsored.

To the tune of £1M each from every under 23 team that enters.

Papa John’s or whoever aren’t throwing anything like that sort of money at it, so it’s pretty much an irrelevance whether it has a sponsor, other than having a partner to take on a bit of promotional activity.

That £1M contribution pays for the decent entrance money to every L1 & L2 club plus the prize money if you win or draw a game.

No club loses out no matter how few are in the ground now because of the entry money for just competing in it let alone winning a game or two. As unpalatable as playing u23 teams is the business model behind it is sound. There wouldn’t be a cup otherwise.
