I'm not someone who is terribly bothered about kit design (I'm far too old) but I thought the blue kit looked very good yesterday against Wrexham. Smart.

One thing though - if you look on the "gallery" of the game on the OS, some are wearing socks which are blue and then white from the ankle down and some are wearing socks with a turquoise band between the blue and the white. Shouldn't they be all the same? And which is the official design? I hope it's the former, as they look much better.

It’s blue tape (albeit a slightly different shade to the shirt) ;)

Ah OK. Time for my next sight test I reckon.

The white bit is weird, I see Castore sell 'footless' Dons socks. I assume players then wear a certain style/fit sock to suit their boots/foot shape and the just have the top bit of the socks to match the kits. Which would explain the white section. Then the turquoise band is tape as Camdenite says.

Football socks are horrible, when I was playing football at school even I cut the feet off and wore grip ankle socks

Surely it's time FIFA and all the big kit suppliers agree on a new innovative standard for football socks, they're clearly not fit for purpose in the modern game...

- Tight around calves and don't allow free movement of muscle (which is why some players cut holes in the back of socks)
- Keep falling down (unless kept in place using tape/string/elastic)
- Tight around where lower leg meets foot (which is why footballers cut the bottom off socks, and why some suppliers like Castore provide footless socks)

Needs like very thin material (almost like tights) over the calves and at the joint, and have built in shin pads (or a carbon-like thin shield), with elastic tops. Would look strange to start with but we'd get used to it.

Or just get rid of high socks and shin pads completely. I mean, studs hurt on the back of the leg just as much as the front and the back isn't protected.

A stud to the shin is a hell of a lot more painful than a stud to the calf. Shin pads are there to protect the shin bone, which has little skin/muscle/fat protection.

I dunno, I've had both and depends on how hard the tackle is. You wouldn't want either really.
