What on earth gives you that impression?

I admire certain aspects of McLean’s character. He is a shit house and like all off us has got it wrong on (more than one) occasion. But he also gets more abuse (in my part of the world at least) than almost any other footballer and he takes it on the chin. A complex character from a complex place.

In terms of quality - stellar signing at league 2 level.

Without wanting to open a can of worms - I hope any dislike of him isn’t related to his refusal to wear a poppy.

Wrexham - McClean (they'll be others)
Stockport - Powell
Notts County - McGoldrick
Gillingham - Scott Malone

These are all real statement signings. I know some of them are pushing on a bit, but they all had decent seasons last year in the Championship or in McGoldrick's case, League 1.

Real surprise to see any of them dropping down to League 2 but just shows the financial powers of the club's we're now up against.
