As I touched on earlier, if he had a tone of a Millen, Neilson, Tisdale with exactly the same record, I don't think many would be arsed.

It's nice to be sympathetic.cand it shows we have heart and care at the core of this fanbase and that's admirable, not knocking it. But ever since Karl left, we've longed for that figure again as a fanbase it seems.
I liked Tis and Manning's ability to be respectful of the fans without being like Russ, Robbo, Jackson and fist pumping the crowd etc... though I love that stuff myself it feels like an instant win over if you have that kind of approach.
When Russ left I found myself struggling to warm immediately to either Manning or Jackson purely because I got suckered in by Russ' antics and thought we'd got another Robinson, which is what I adored as a young fan when Robbo came in and I got it... I think a lot of the younger ones especially crave that from managers as I did whe I were their age with KR..
I said when he was appointed that I hoped the fans wouldn't suck up to him immediately and they did exactly that. I love that the fans support the manager from the off, but really do feel we hero worship them way too quickly.[/quote]
Can't really disagree with any of that

Well obviously he needs today to practice in front of the mirror.

Nah; he's had 19 years of practice already.

He will say Bobby's back and the last few years have all been a dream.

He might say Bobby’s here, of course.

Not quite - "I'd like to introduce you to our new head coach, Bobby Winkelman".

He seems like a good bloke, and I admire his passion, but he was the wrong guy when he appointed him, and he’s the wrong guy now. Appointing a manager with no experience when we’re mid season and in the relegation spots is a criminally stupid thing to do once, but to do it twice is clinically insane.

As to whether he should have been kept on, I can’t get past his lack of a response to us going 4-1 up against Barnsley. When the only requirement was ‘don’t concede three goals in the next twenty minutes’, for him to not act until we’d already conceded two was so naive that we shouldn’t even have considered keeping him on.

Right decision.

It's actually quite comical to look back on the thread when we first recruited Jackson. The vast majority of us had the same view then as we do now, in that Jackson would be an acceptable recruitment prior to a pre-season but for him to join during a relegation battle is madness.

It does beg the question that if so many of us on here knew how crazy this decision was, how did the club not? I suspect a lot of us were scarred by Dan Micciche but Sweeting wasn't as he wasn't here at the time. Let's hope (and assuming Sweeting is still around) that he now also bares these scars.
