Current best 11 with the players we have contracted is maybe something like this?

Ravizzoli
[No Rbs] O'hora, Tucker, Lewie. Harvie
Devoy, Robson
Holland Grigg Grant

Serious work needed.

Ravizzoli was released

Also, Eisa and Jules are under contract as we triggered their 1 year options.

If no one left (highly unlikely) and we only recruited a Goalkeeper, it actually wouldn't be a that bad and the team would certainly hold its own in league 2, surely.

--------------Keeper------------
-------O'hora--Tucker--Lewie---
Smith----------------------Harvie
-----------Devoy--Robson-------
----Leko------Eisa------Grant---

Bench options:
Burns
Grigg
Dean
Holland
Jules
Dennis
Kemp
Illunga
Sandford

Actually, after typing that out, its actually a pretty strong team for League 2

I completely butchered my attempt at this and forgot about Eisa, Leko, Jules etc

That line up does look better but I wouldn't go as far as saying it is a strong team. League 2 has been pretty competitive lately and it is shaping up to be very strong next year with Wrexham and Notts County back in the league.

I would hope the new manager tries to keep McEachran. Whilst he is unfit he is arguably the only one of the remaining players who can make a defense splitting pass. Would be a big creative loss.

That has to be a strong team in League 2. I know its competitive, but its not near League 1 in my opinion.

O'Hora, Tucker, Lewington, Harvie, Eisa, Robson, Leko are all proven at League 1 level and any team in League 2 would snap your arm off for one of them. Some of these players would be targets for most League 1 clubs too.

Grant showed a lot of promise in League 1 and will be 1 year older too. He should be expected to have a strong season. Devoy similar as Grant, although didn't show quite as much but I think we should expect similar from him this year.

Smith is a Welsh international, although I don't actually rate him. He's the only one in that starting 11 (ignoring the GK position) that I don't think would do well.

The bench also has a mixture of youngish prospect and League 1 experience, as well as Kemp who took League 2 by storm from January.

I keep having to remind myself we're preparing for L2 not L1, so looking at that retained list with my L2 goggles on, I suppose it's not bad as things stand - pleasantly surprised with one or two still being under contract for next season. If we kept the squad as it is right now and added 5-6 decent additions I'd be quite happy that we'd be challenging at the right end next season.

But that's a big if.

Players like Eisa, O'Hora, Leko and Kemp will definitely get serious interest. Possibly Harvie and Tucker too.

We don't need to sell, and unless it's silly money being offered then I expect the club to stand their ground and not give in just to demonstrate to supporters they have the backbone to do so. If we do sell then it's an absolutely necessity that we have quality replacements in beforehand and not ones done on the cheap - after last summer we'll all be paying a bit more attention.

Are you suggesting we buy before we sell?

It's a big financial risk if you then aren't able to sell the players you want to move on, or even if you can sell them but you can't get the money you expect to get for them.

I didn't say we had to pay a fee, but I'm not against it. I'd rather take the risk than not be able to get a sufficient replacement later on in the window like last summer.

We've done it before when replacing key players - we brought in Twine (knowing we'd have a considerable compensation fee to pay) before we sold Fraser.

The club will have a fair idea of who isn't going to be around ahead of time - players and/or their agents expressing intent to leave or find a new club as well as the usual enquiries from other clubs.

PW won’t be able to resist if offers come in for O’Hora and Eisa, i honestly don’t expect to see either of these in next seasons team, they’ll be sold I’m certain of that
