Let's just assume for a moment we survive the drop. What happens next season ? Without massive changes throughout the club, both player and admin wise, we will just go through it all again.

Bump.

I asked this last week and WD is the first to offer possible outcomes.

Have you ever wondered why that might be?

Buzz Killington rides again...

Anyhoo... Welldon hasn't posted on this thread so I'm not entirely clear what you're looking for re: response. But for what it's worth, my own opinion is:
- Pete remains and does what he always does. Both good and bad.
- Jacko remains and gets the summer window and pre-season. God knows what money he has to spend though.
- Sweeting remains. That will be unwelcome to some, but I think he has enough credit in the bank to have another go. Fail once more and he needs to leave. God knows what money he has to spend though.
- Gibb. I wish he was kicked to the curb but I suspect he'll still be here next year, failing to understand (or care) anything about what a football club is and how it needs to operate

I don't get the whole 'we will just go through it all again' statement. We had similar approaches in 2021 (I'd argue a lot of the recruitment was done in January) as we did this past summer. One year it worked with significant success, the next it didn't. We spent similar money, recruited larger younger players with high potential, added an experienced pro to the midfield, brought in a variety of young loan players.

I am assuming next year we will be lower midtable, it's not very optimistic but these are the teams I think who will be in League One with a bigger or similar budget....
Blackpool, Huddersfield, Barnsley, Ipswich/Derby, Bolton. Posh, Pompey, Charlton, Wycombe, Lincoln, Bristol R and who knows with Wigan.
Obviously it would be nice to see us out perform our budget but realistically I can't seem positive signs.

I think that is the reality of League One now. With modern success stories such as Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton taking up spots in the Premier League . The formerly L1/L2 regulars of Huddersfield, Swansea, Bristol City, Milwall, Luton, Hull and Blackpool largely establishing themselves as Championship teams. You've got a lot of yo-yo and once big teams stuck in League One these days. But equally back in 2014/15 and last season there were many bigger/richer/more historically successful teams in the division

Sweeting deserves another shot. Fucked things up this season but mistakes will be learnt from.

By replacing him (with whom anyway?) we'll be starting next season in a worse position by having a disorganised setup before a transfer is even completed.
Sweeting did plenty well last few years before this one. I trust he's screwed on by what mistakes not to make.

I wonder how Robbo would be as Sporting Director. :) Just asking. :D
