Hopefully he did an open letter to the players too. Because if they give us something to get behind, we'll give them the support back.

I went to Burslem on Saturday and saw absolutely nothing energetic to get behind. Nothing whatsoever. But the fact I turned up means I'm doing my bit.

Players, do yours.

I'm genuinely concerned about this letter.

It's at least 3 months too late, and is way to wishy washy with regards to issues. Some of the off pitch problems could be addressed now. You don't need to wait until the end of the season.

The promise of "we will look at things after the end of the season" will not suffice when the season ticket renewals drop on the doorsteps

It's not much and it's overdue but, I hope, it's a start. As SG19 says though, we do need to see action.

As for the team, as Alby says, if they show us some spirit, they'll certainly get our support. Who doesn't love a late run to stave off relegation?

Saturday is going to either be the start of the turnaround, or the final nail in the coffin.

It's a start, and better than nothing

Daft as it sounds at least we know there is some recognition from within the club, and they aren't completely oblivious or blinkered by the operational constraints they've set themselves for this season (as it has seemed)

I wonder if it took Toby to have an off the record chat with Liam over a beer to prompt this, either before or after his article?

Either way its a small step in the right direction

It just feels very flat to me and if I am being critical it also comes across as somewhat half assed (although I admit that might be unfair). He talks about not shirking responsibility but also doesn't actually acknowledge any of the concerns fans have had. Owning the mistakes will be the first steps to rebuilding the connection with the supporters. I think a bit more genuine and honest emotion could have been expressed in this letter - to show us those at the top really do care (giving them benefit of the doubt).

Playing staff aside I think there is plenty the club could do starting now to right some of the wrongs of this season.

But yeah, it is something I guess so at least it is a start.

Sadly imo the letter doesn't really feel genuine. It doesn't focus for long on their own shortcomings this season. Rather it pays lip service to them and moves on quickly to what the fans need to do.
I sense this is a corporate response to Toby's article and the stick they are getting on social media. It is a response at least but not from any genuine reflection.... it is simply something that needed to be done to tick a box.
It's going to be very hard for the club to overcome the level of cynicism that is now ingrained in the fan base. Winning a few games in a row would help them a great deal.. the problem is... we don't have the team to do that. A problem that they created.
The damage is done, we are hurtling towards a crash with no brakes. They'll just have to brace for it and hope something can be salvaged from the wreckage to rebuild next season.

He can say what he likes, it's not going to make any real difference. Even if by some miracle we stay up, you still have to ask why we're in this state in the first place. The playing staff is his direct responsibility, and that's without all the other nonsense.

Ask yourself this. Whatever league we're in next season, will we still have the majority of the team we have this? Of-course we will.
