I am relatively new to MK, and saw some old photos of Paul Butler on the wall in the Young Dons area today. I never knew he played here - he was on of my favourite defenders at Sunderland. Was he any good for the Dons?

Came on loan from Leeds briefly and left before the play offs, can't remember why.

I seem to remember him ‘helping’ an injured opponent from the pitch, which rather endeared him to ms at the time.

if I remember correctly we signed him when martin allen randomly decided to transfer list a load of players in the middle of the season. he was solid enough but clearly towards the back end of his career and eventually dropped out of the starting xi.

I remember that well. Including my fave player at the time Matt Baker and IIRC the captain Ben Chorley. It was at that point I thought the sobriquet 'mad dog' was very apposite. He lost my respect after that hissy fit.

Not the most mobile of centre-halfs. Good in the air, not so good on the ground, which having seen both Chorley after all his injures and N'Gala many times a few years back at Pompey you could group all 3 into the same category.

Edited N'Gala is alot quicker than the other 2 but a real liability.

Had a stack up with Martin Allen. After one poor game mad Dog ordered the players in for early morning Sunday training and as Butler lived far up north said he wasn't going to do it. Never saw him again

baker left at the start of the season I think. the story I heard was that he refused to go for a swim in willen lake as part of some kind of pre-season ‘bonding’ but I have no idea whether that’s true or not.
