I was impressed on Saturday by the way we scrapped all over the park. We haven’t often looked like that over the past two and a half years, so it’s a good sign.

Shrewsbury weren’t second in the league for nothing. They are decent on the ball but they are scrappers too, so it was good not to get out-scrapped like we have many times in the past.

Chasing, getting close and stuck in, nicking balls.
Using strength to keep balls or get onto them.
No nonsense in and around the penalty area when we were under threat, mostly anyway. I think Walsh’s average no-nonsense clearance was into Row H at least, which wasn’t a bad effort.
And we still managed some twiddly bits of passing, and created chances.

Scrapping is a much underrated ability. Purists don’t even recognise it as a thing. But if we can compete at that, it builds confidence. I really enjoyed that performance.

Substitute the scrapping for windmilling and I'm on side.

Scrapping is good in order to help you win back the ball. City scrapped well yesterday.

Indeed, a rugged display with a desire to get the ball back

Agree, enjoyed the match and look forward to seeing more of the same. If we could just have someone capable of clinical finishing of chances we'd be doing well I think.

Agree with all the above.
Good to see some positive posts for a change. I was beginning to feel very isolated :)

I didn't see the 's' and thought it was a thread about how to advise 'our friends' how to behave when they next visit.....
Must go to Specsavers.

For the first time in a long time my 10 year old lad didn't ask to get his tablet out during the second half. That's how I rate our performances from now on, on which minute the tablet comes out. This match scores a 94.

Is this what Neilson's style has driven us to, 10-year olds with painkiller addictions to get through it? The man's got to go! :)
