I don't care if we go down, I just don't want Neilson in charge if we are in League Two.

What if we stay up? I want him gone either way. I just don't care anymore about moaning about it. Nothing will change. Even if we get a new manager. The root of the problem is far deeper than Neilson.

The root of what problem?

The problem of underachieving.

The root of what problem?

The problem being we've a shit manager in charge, a blinkered board, and a team of absolutely shockingly bad players.

But that apart...

And no Koi Carp pond and Sensory Garden. That is the biggest crime of all.

The thread began on 9/12/17.

I suggested we needed 12 points from 8 games doesn't sound a lot does it.

We have 5 from 7 that's 5 points from a possible 21.

The only question I want to ask PW is

Pete is that acceptable?

If he were to answer No

Anything less than 12 and we are in a relegation battle especially as 3 of those games are against teams below us.

11 points from our next 8 games would be comfortable mid-table form, while those really in the relegation battle will only average 9 points or fewer from their next 8 games...

Scunny A L
Rotherham A L
Plymouth H W
Peatboghorror H D
Oxford A L
KFC H W
Norfampton A D
Rotherham H W
would do it with 11 points from those games.

Given that we're 5 points above the relegation battle atm, to be dragged towards it we'd need to get 6 points or fewer while those really in it get 9 points or more over the next 8 games, imho.

One point better off than expected, after the Scunthorpe & Rotherham away games...

Two points worse off than expected after the first three games - not confident we'll even get 5 points from our next 5 games now, let alone 10 on current form...

Back on target after the first four games then - merely a small misalignment in the prediction sequence... ;)

Same number of points as expected after the Oxford away game...

Two points worse off than expected after six games - not optimistic we'll get 6 points from our next 2 games on current form...

And we didn't.

No points scored in our last two games, and just 5 points from our last 8 games overall while some of those already in the relegation battle scored 9 points or more (at our expense), means we have been dragged into the relegation battle.

So we've crashed from playoffs form in the autumn, to relegation form this winter...
Meanwhile, Plymouth & Gillingham have transformed their season with automatic promotion form to leap out of the relegation places up into the top half of the table , and we've slumped down into them.

Two wins against Northampton & Walsall however, would've had seen us in 17th and 4 points clear of the relegation zone right now.
Even just a win against Northampton would've kept us out of the relegation zone, and them still in it.
That Northampton game was crucial, and Neilson was rightly sacked afterwards.
Can Micciche do what Neilson did last season, and rescue us from the relegation battle we're now in?
COYD!

Here are the updated relevant stats.
Over our last 8 league games (others played while we were still in the FA Cup), the current clubs outside the top 10, have secured the following number of points:

11. Plymouth: 21pts - were 22nd... (P10) = 2.10ppg
12. Gillingham: 20pts - were 21st... (P9) = 2.22ppg

13. Bristol R: 12pts - were 15th (P9) = 1.33ppg
14. Doncaster: 15pts - were 18th... (p10) = 1.5ppg
15. Southend: 9pts - were 12th (P9) = 1.0ppg
16. Walsall: 8pts - were 11th... (P9) = 0.88ppg
17. Fleetwood: 9pts - were 14th (p9) = 1.0ppg
18. Blackpool: 7pts - were 13th... (P9) = 0.77ppg
19. AFC: 14pts - were 20th... (p10) = 1.4ppg
20. Cobblers: 14pts - were 23rd... (P10) = 1.4ppg
-----------------------------------------
21. Oldham: 5pts - were 16th... (P10) = 0.5ppg
22. MK Dons: 5pts - were 17th (P8) = 0.63ppg
23. Rochdale: 5pts - were 19th... (P7) = 0.71ppg
24. Bury: 7pts - still 24th (P10) = 0.7ppg

Southend have already received a bit of a boost from their new-manager.
Time for us to do likewise.
COYD!

When the topic commenced it was early December, not only did we win 1 yes ONE of those games in what was a freak result we have not won since. We have won 2 games since sorry its so long ago I cant recall.

One of the teams in that fixture list was Plymouth Argyle who were below us and are now in the last play off position.

There have been so many mistakes in the last 2 years that will result in relegation. There were so may people that thought in early December that relegation was out of the question but unfortunately no team is too good to go down and we are no different.

I hope that PW is all ready planning for L2

Unfortunately I predicted this on 7.12.17.
Some agreed others were confident to suggest we would be ok.
I know it's not certain we'll b I L2 next season but unless 4 wins come that's where we are heading.
We were sinking like the titanic then and RN should have gone then.
4 weeks later was too long and it was too much to turn it around with all that was going on both off and on the pitch.
We played Plymouth 19 days later they were below us now they in play off position. As greavsy said funny old game saint.
I didn't invest in the 6/1 which were the odds on relegation at that time.
There were clearly some that were glass half full now we all feel pretty empty
