Now before I say this I will just clarify that I applaud the effort to get people going at a game and hopefully encourage more occasional singers (like myself) to sing more. In fact I usually encourage all effort to help with atmosphere, I once rather ridiculously suggested we embrace the feckin COW BELL.

However it was obvious pretty early on Saturday that all the Trumpet was doing was sucking the gently simmering atmosphere in the away stand. So I implore whoever it was with it, either don't bring it or get some sort of cohesive plan with the lads and lasses who make most of our noise during the game. It was baffling when tunes that as far as I'm aware aren't even used for melodies in our songs started being played!

Ok it didn’t work too well, but to be fair to him he is only just learning, but he is keen as mustard to help maintain and encourage the atmos.
I think he was a bit too far from the main body of fans to have much impact, but I would hope that he is not put off.
I was at the Oxford game and it made the night, he can only get better, so give him a chance.

Not suggesting he HAS to stop, just try and liaise a bit to get the best from his efforts. Because it would be sad if people just stopped trying new stuff, but it's all about organisation.

He's playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.

I’m scared about making a comment on thisbecause people moan about opinions and say at least he’s trying.

Which I agree on and understand. But it’s not my cuppa tea and it really doesn’t work. And not only that, none of the fans approve. Nothing personal and appreciate the atmosphere trying to be boosted but he’s only gonna get more hate for it.

One trumpet I can cope with

I had the great misfortune of sitting in front of The England Band, at Wembley a couple of years ago v Turkey.

My fucking ears were ringing for a week after that :|
