Agree about possession.

It is the same as dribbling, long balls, racing up the line, crossing, holding the ball up, etc. It is a skill that is useful at the right time, not an end in itself.

It is not the primary objective of a game, which is using any method to find the best way to break down opponents. There is nothing wrong with sitting back and shutting down, then breaking, like our opponents used to do to us. And still do.
