With Lewie confined to the bench and a succession of part time skippers, is it not about time we appointed a new permanent team captain?

Someone who can take the armband and influence the team, it can’t be good for the players to keep having a part time Captain.

Would you keep Lewie in that role? Or if not who to be skipper?

Both Williams and Gilbey are captain material and happy with either of them, the most important thing is that we have a consistent captain that plays regularly.

That’s my take on it as well, Gilbey appears to be a natural leader and I would plump for him

The captain role is overrated IMHO.

The last and current managers must agree with you as we haven't had an effective captain for years - leadership is one thing we have been sadly lacking for a long time.

Gilbery for me. I like George Williams a lot but, and he seems popular with the players, but just feel more comfortable with Gilbey as having the fire in his belly and determination and confidence to lead.

Maybe the title 'captain' if its a ceremonial or Buggins Turn appointment.

But leadership on the pitch is vital to the success of a team.

There are lots of ways of expressing leadership. The teams that get most out of themselves have several players like that. Like Wimbledon FC used to.

How do you know Lewington isn't an effective captain?

An individual can have an influence on the game without a worthless piece of cloth around his arm. How can Lloris influence the game at spurs?

The 'honour' of the captaincy is only viewed as such in this country alone. In Italy for example it's given to the longest serving player. It's a nothing gesture.
