He’s a good holding midfielder. I can see why they would want him.
This.
We've not seen the best of him, but he's a decent player and has proved it at times.
He has played a few times for Mali, and has been a regular in the French 2nd division and at the start of the 2015/16 season joined Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish top-flight. Admittedly he rarely featured for them but a player of that calibre is way too good to be mocked by a league two club. It's not worked out with us, and it's better he goes now to save on his wages; but I'm not surprised clubs are interested in him and I wish him all the best.
Don't think that argument holds up - lots of players in L2 who have previously played for bigger/top flight clubs, doesn't mean they are good players or allowed to be free from criticism. Wootton played in the Champions League for Man Utd and was poor for us this season in L1. Sow played in the Chinese top tier and had a lot of poor games this season for us.
Looking at people's reactions on Twitter to the news that Leeds were apparently interested, the majority opinion seems to be he wasn't very good for us this season.
I'm not one of those that will condemn him as one of our worst ever players - he isn't, we've had much worse over the years - but he was certainly a weak link this season and one of several disappointing/poor players. Players who played a lot of games for us this season like Cisse have to take some blame for being relegated - otherwise who else do you think was worse than him for us apart from Sietsma, EEL and Wootton?
