How does anyone go from being an experienced manager to an experienced one? Everyone has to start somewhere. Dan will get better as he learns the job.
Quite simply - most people don't ever make that transition because they aren't good enough.
After five straight losses, I am.of the view that DM is just not cut out for it, so how low do we have to drop for him to get enough experience? The ends do not justify the means, and we don't 'owe' him anything. You get experience on merit. He comes across as a nice guy, it was a bold and creative move, but it isn't working. So be it, no-one is to blame as such - but he needs to step down and go back to coaching kids.
If he stays and wins the next five, I will change my mind as is my privilege as a fan on a forum! But I really can't see it turning around. I wish I could.
