Asked on twitter for an update but still nothing from the club. They would struggle under the new GDPR legislation coming in next year where breaches have to be reported within 72 hours.

Yes.

As ever with the web, take normal precautions (install security software and keep it updated).

They may do but it won't take away the potentially significant penalties if a breach arises. I just think it is good order to swiftly investigate and update customers, seems a bit slow here.
