I think Dan made the right choice in signing Elliot Ward over him though. He’s been great.

I’d have him back next year though. Which I expect to happen if we are in L1

Welsh George left under a cloud and came back, so I wouldn’t rule out Galloway.

My concern is... how good is he now? He has only started 28 league games in the 7 years since he left us.

If he can’t get into a shit Championship team, is he suddenly going to be a solid player in a team hoping to be competitive in L1?

Seven years

Agreed. I did it on purpose to be down with the chavs.

I would imagine if you were short changed on smokes you'd know the difference between 4 and 7.

Completely out of the blue win for Sunderland, 4-1 away to Derby, which moved them off the bottom.
But once again Brendon Galloway wasn't in the matchday squad. Instead he's been playing for their U-23's.
If he's only playing for the U23's of a bottom of the championship club then, next season, if we're still in league one, I think we'd have a chance to get him on loan.
And I think he'd fit in well to Dan's formation as he could play in 3 positions in it: LWB, LCB, and DM.
And as we'd need to replace EEL and Tymon we'd definitely be looking at those positions.

Of course, that's all for later and all dependent on survival. But just a thought on a quiet night on here.

PS: Can this thread be moved to Tombit Corner to make it easier to find?

He isn't even close to the Sunderland match day squad. Hasn't been for months. In a truly awful Sunderland team, he has been deemed too awful to risk playing him. Amazing fall from grace.

Wouldn't call it a "fall from grace" - he's hardly been a regular for anybody, including us and Everton. He's just out of favour and other players are better than him in his position. Doesn't mean he won't be useful to a Prem, Championship or L1 team.

Clearly has something about him, players go through bad spells (look at Dele with Spurs). If he is going to be available in the summer, it might be a bit of a coup for DM to get him at this level.

You cannot possibly compare Alli's slight dip in form at a top-4 Premiership side to Galloway being totally frozen out at a down-and-out Sunderland!!

On the Sunderland forum, they are seriously touting BG to win 'worst player of the season' - for which there is no shortage of competition unfortunately!

That's good news for us. It's the only way we'd have a chance of getting him in league one next season.
If he'd had a successful season in the championship, or even a decent one, it would be pointless for his development to loan him further down the leagues.
But after a terrible championship campaign, there's a chance a season as a regular in league one will be seen as a positive step in his development.
I hope so.

Agreed. That plus the fact he clearly wants to come 'home'. Could be the best thing for him. Would we want him as a CB, LB or LWB though?

Yes, sorry, I should have said seven years since his first team debut for us. And that was a cup game, so six years since his league debut.

That's the benefit of bringing in versatile players, he could be utilised anywhere there or even in CM if he can still play there

Why do we think he clearly wants to come home? I haven’t seen that written, is there an article I’ve missed.

As far as us wanting him: why on earth wouldn’t we want someone who has played several premiership games?
