Converting a midfielder into a quality centre back. Has a familiar ring to it. ;)

In Robbies interview he says that he was bought to play in a back three. I know he has been injured but I think the only time he played in defence this season was when a centre back was either sent off or went off and he dropped back.

The way he played today he should not play anywhere else

IIRC he played centre half against Stevenage in the Checkatrade. Quality there.

To be fair to him, he did say in his ifollow interview he was happy to play as a CB, as that’s his position for Mali, he’s keen to play either role

Wasn’t Cisse a defender when he arrived, who we converted to a midfielder?

Apart from his defensive abilities, he looked a natural leader at the back. He ran the defence, controlled the line, and never stopped talking to keep everyone in shape.

That's a big thing we've been missing. It was the main thing I wanted us to buy in the January Window. Maybe too early to say, but it would be great if Ouss could perform that role consistently.

I would be tempted to put Cisse in a centre half back two, while Gilbey looked good on the wing (similar to Carl Baker). The only problem would be that McGrandles and Upson might be too lightweight (excellent performance by McGrandles BTW).

Yes I picked up on that too.

I'd not argue with that. :ugeek:

It's Pete's train set and you should all feel honoured to be granted the privilege of paying to watch him play with it.

Going back to Sausages point I’m sure Neilson said when he dined Cisse that he was a midfielder who could play left centre back as well. He was brilliant on Saturday and was the natural leader that we’ve been lacking. Hope he keeps it up
