Just getting ridiculous now. Legendary guitarist Tom Verlaine has died at 73.

I’m assuming that everyone’s heard Marquee Moon, or better still owns a copy. It was going to feature on the favourite albums thread from yours truly. His influence can’t be overstated. The opening track on Marquee Moon, See No Evil, is 46 years old. Listening to it today you’d think it was released last week, or 46 years ago. It’s timeless.

I was lucky enough to have seen Television when they reformed back in the early 90’s at some festival. They played in the afternoon, in blinding sunshine, and were of course fantastic.

It’s a bit rubbish this constant parade of folk shuffling off this mortal coil. But I guess as you get older it’s inevitable.

His greatest work... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puIM6LkKLpI

Just woke to this news. Terrible.

The only good thing I can say is that, unlike most of us who, when we die, only leave memories with our family and friends (which go when they do), Tom has left Marquee Moon. That's a great achievement.

RIP Tom. Gonna play MM right now.

Matt Smith as Dr Who about to regenerate....
"You won't even remember me. Well, you'll remember me a little. I'll be a story in your head. But that's OK: we're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know, it was the best: a daft old man, who stole a magic box and ran away. Did I ever tell you I stole it? Well, I borrowed it; I was always going to take it back. Oh, that box, Amy, you'll dream about that box. It'll never leave you. Big and little at the same time, brand-new and ancient, and the bluest blue, ever. And the times we had, eh?"
