Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - More News From Nowhere

Overflowing with cameos from start to finish… Will Self, Beth Orton, Peaches Geldof (RIP) shit actor Michael Higgs, and a whole host of others. Filmed in a strip club, unfortunately, our hero and his backing band play while a host of pole dancers do their thing, all the while being ignored by the aforementioned B rate celebrities.

Whatever, it's great. Oh, and yes, that IS Allen Ginsberg in the background.

It's brilliant.
As is Weird Al's genius homage to it, not just by using palindromes, but rhyming palindromes :)

 Excellent.

Perhaps pushing it to call it a video per se, but a star turn from X-Ray Spex on TOTP from 1978 - with some then cutting edge effects!

Perhaps I'm growing long in the tooth but this still sounds razor sharp to me

Bless and RIP Poly

If we're going for things from Top Of The Pops...

Marshall Hain - Dancing In The City

I fancied her when I was 16. I fancy her now I’m 60.

It's an all-time favourite, so that'll do for my nomination for today then. :D

Sleaford Mods - Double Diamond

Before frontman Jason Williamson hooked up with his musical partner Andrew Fern, Sleaford Mods was just Williamson on his own doing his thing over samples. This is his best pre-fame track. The sample is from The Jeff Beck Group’s Morning Dew, and the video is outstanding. Basically just Williamson standing at a road junction delivering his usual stream of consciousness about how shit his life is.

She was/is wonderful.

Their album, Free Ride (1978), is good too, and the final track, Back to the Green is definitely worth a listen imho.
Relax, and let it build & fade to the very end.

"After all the grey you've seen, it's time to head on back to the green..."

Manhattan Skyline by A-ha (1987)

Not the expected one from A-ha (great as it is), but another favourite with a similarly memorable concept & effects, directed by Steve Barron.

Airhead by Thomas Dolby (1988)

Clever live-action cardboard cutout animation, and a great tune with some classic lines:
"You ask me do I love you, does the Pope live in the woods?
Quod Erat Demonstrandum, baby. ("Oh, you speak French!")..."

Bakerman by Laid Back (1989)

An old favorite and a great tune, from when MTV Europe used to play interesting videos from countries all over europe.
Give it a minute or two, and then enjoy the skydiving musicians & bakerman :)
