I saw the band Ash play to a couple of thousand people at 2000 Trees Festival a few years back, I'm fairly certain they once headlined Glastonbury
I saw Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine headline Glasto' once. Them on Friday, Shakespear's Sister on Saturday. Where the fuck are those now?
I guess in the end that every band that 'had success' or 'headlined' is doomed to fade.
The bands that
do go on and on (albeit with personnel changes) e.g. Stones, Who, Floyd (Soz kids but that's my era) get labelled as 'old farts'. But it isn't going to be different for an 80s/90s band. Or any band.
You/they can't win.
But that's rock and roll.
And football.
