Just seen this thread.

My favourite lines were the ones I did off that fit celebrities tits on Sunday morning in a kitchen in Fishermead. You know that fit bird from that band who sang that song? 8-)

Now looking back over the years
And whatever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
And at sixty-five years old
My mother, God rest her soul
Couldn’t understand why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
Leaving her to start with a heart so badly broken
Despite encouragement from me
No words were ever spoken
And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
Alone again, naturally
Alone again, naturally

Alone Again, Naturally - Gilbert O'Sullivan

Great lines indeed.
What a songwriter, and still going strong today with his 20th album.

Love listening to Bruce Springsteen, but some of his lyrics really kill me nowadays. A little too apt and close to the bone, I suppose.

"Because there's just different people coming down here now, and they see things in different ways,
And soon everything we've known will just be swept away." (Independence Day)

-

"Now, some guys, they just give up living,
And start dying little by little, piece by piece." (Racing in the Street)

Dear gawd yes...

"In the tunnels uptown the rat's own dream guns him down
The shots echo down the hallways in the night
No-ones watching as an ambulance pulls away....
...Tonight In Jungleland

Prescient about what's all too prevalent in our cities. :(
