Gers wrote: What an unexpected delight that was. Wonderful gig, one of the year's best. Went from introspection to all out noise terror in the space of one song. I absolutely loved it, and all the more because I wasn't really all that fussed about going. It's Monday, bloody freezing, and in small room at The Stables, but I'm ever so glad that the current Mrs G made me go. She has far better taste than you do (in all things but Life Partners). |

He's a massive big beardy wierdy from The Isle of Eigg. Best I could describe him would be The XX crossed with Elbow, add a touch of Ivor Cutler, some acoustic guitar drenched in analogue synthesizer. But you really need to see him live. Bought an album, had a smashing chat after the gig. A fine evening was had by all. |

I've only got three so far. Nick Cave and his very Bad Seeds Danny Baker. Really looking forward to this one. The aforementioned Wedding Present. |

Beware of them that month. Gers wrote: You're racing ahead. I've only got three so far. Nick Cave and his very Bad Seeds Danny Baker. Really looking forward to this one. The aforementioned Wedding Present. Tempted by that one. I do like Danny Baker, especially when he had his radio show with Danny Kelly. Used to send up a lot of contributions to that one. I'd urge you to download the last Word In Your Ear podcast. Well over an hour laugh out loud genius from Danny. The story where him and Kelly try to get stoned in Amsterdam will live with me for ever. Search for Word In Your Ear. There's a shit load of great stuff on there, but Baker takes the prize. |

You're right about the Holland story. Also really liked the Hughie Green tale and the stories about Danny's dad. But then they were all good. He's on an earlier one where he talks about his time at the NME. Also if you can find it, an absolute cracker on Richard Herring's Leicester Square Podcast. The stories about his dad on that one had me laughing out loud. Brilliant. |
