Few weeks ago - Soul Weekender. I saw:

Shalamar (awesome)
Heatwave (pretty damn good)
Odessey (voices still great)
Shakatak (still skilled musicians; still tedious jazzy muzak bores)
Ray Lewis (a latter day member of The Drifters) - he was epic. Fantastic singer and a great performance.
Billy Ocean (the old boy can still sing)
Plus a few others.
Plus some great DJs.

All in all an awesome time.

I'm sooo jealous! :D
Hoping to book tickets to see Brit Funk Association in Hartford in a couple of months - if they haven't sold out.

Hadn't heard of Brit Funk Association till your post! Just looked them up - as expected, made up of members of that wave of British jazz funkers. Sounds great! Hope you get tickets.

Stony Live is almost upon us, so I'll be going to see some of the bands at that (and other events too).

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds at Victoria Park

Featuring, in no particular order...
Yak, who were fantastic.
Richard Strange. One for the older folks.
Nadine Shah.
Baxter Dury. What a show! He was brilliant.
Courtney Barnett. She wasn't very good.
Brix Smith. What an unexpected treat. She's still got it, and I'd still do her.
Bo Ningen. Jesus! Where to start with this... I found myself stood next to the aforementioned Courtney Barnett while watching this. I couldn't even begin to explain what they were like.
Patti Smith. She did a 10min version of 'Horses', which made me and the rest of the 40 odd thousand crowd very happy indeed.
And of course old chuckles himself, who did a load of stuff from his last album, which are hardly crowd pleasers. But they pleased me.

The biggest cheer of the entire day however, belonged to Kylie. Who came on for a stunningly good version on 'Where The Wild Roses Grow'. Which had everyone around me reaching for their phones and saying... "Fuck me, it's Kylie Minogue".

There were others, but I can't remember them. It was under 60 quid, and was exceptionally well organised. The food was reasonably priced, with a wide choice. And for every food outlet there were 3 bars. I'd have paid that for any of the above. Except Richard Strange. Who wasn't funny 40 odd years ago, and guess what! He's still not funny.

Bo Ningen are incredible aren’t they?

They're certainly something. Well worth seeing. I spoke to your mate at Brix. In a crowd of 40,000 I bump into your guitarist.

We both agreed that Brix was the highlight, but we were yet to see Kylie at that point.

Arctic Monkeys at the Royal Albert Hall last night - War Child charity benefit gig

Given the marmite reception for the new album we were a little unsure what to expect. What we got was a fabulous evening of all the Monkeys bangers and standards with four (five?) of the new songs nicely spread throughout - despite being off the UK circuit since 2013 the boys were on top form

Always love visits to the RAH - discovered the Stella Artois bar this time - fabulous evening all round

:D

Folk On The Green, Stony Stratford

I can play loads of different instruments. At a rough count...
Bass. Drums. Mandolin. Ukulele. Piano. Guitar. and there's probably more. But when I'm playing those instruments I tend to play the song in question in time, in tune, and in the same key as everyone else.
Guess that's why I've never played at Folk On The Green.
