How many of the original Stranglers are still there?

3 of the original 4 (kind of).

Jet Black is still part of the band (his band!) but he no longer tours. I saw him on his last tour and someone else played drums for most of the gig. Jet was (literally) wheeled on for a couple of songs. He plays in the studio though.

Jean-Jacques Burnel and Dave Greenfield are still going strong.

Baz Warne (ex Toy Dolls) is the fourth member - he's actually been in the band longer than Hugh Cornwall was!

The Hold Steady at Camden Electric Ballroom.

Good to have them back after a four year break. The bonus was that with no new album (yet) it was essentially a greatest hits set.

Off to see Sleaford Mods at the Roundhouse this September.

Last time I saw them it was a tenner. Just paid three times that.

The Wave Pictures and Mammoth Penguins at Esquires

Great evening - wanted to see The Mammoth Penguins for ages and they were brilliant. Nothing enormously clever but great driving rhythms and great vocals. Some real highlights in the wave pictures set too - the song about the drummer and the song the drummer sang in particular.

Hurrah etc.

Just booked to see Electric Six at Esquires.

I saw Flight of the Conchords at MK Theatre on Wednesday (her indoors is a huge fan). Really funny and some excellent 'piss-take' songs - Inner City Pressure was probably the highlight for me.

Went to see The Antipoet last night (think Sleaford Mods with dresses and a double bass) at The Cock in Stony. Normally they're really good, funny poetry with minimal backing. But last night they were filming a live video. So it was all a bit stop start. If they fucked up they had to start over, and it eventually became a bit of a bore.

But it was free, and I enjoyed a Guinness, followed by a nice wee G&T. So all in all not a wasted evening.
