If FIFA clamp down on them and introduce FFPP to their system it'd affect it massively, but whilst it isn't is there not a chance it can be competitive and entertaining?

I can't envisage FIFA clamping down though. Both FIFA and UEFA have been all about the money for a long time, a big reason why the latter has FFP is to protect the established clubs who generate massive revenue streams. Having a more open competition with projects like Malaga or Anzhi Makhachkala, and to an extent City for a while, potentially jeopardise that. FIFA are desperate for the Club World Cup to be bigger than the Champions League, this is the potential gateway and opportunity for this to happen. It probably will also open the door to more Middle Eastern World Cups as well. I bet FIFA love it.
