Crystal Palace 4 - 0 Man Utd 67 minutes played, what an absolute shambles Utd are, gutless performance
Also a squad gutted by injuries.
Only 1, half fit, 36 year old CB in the whole squad. No fit LB's for most of season. Only DM in squad having to fill in at CB..All 3 most senior attacking players - Rashford, Martial, Fernandes - all out.
This season has been a nightmare for injuries - up to about 70 now! We finished 3rd last season and reached both cup finals. The main reason they're down to 8th this year is all the injuries. It just rarely gets mentioned because other more derogatory narratives are much preferred.
True injuries have an impact, but this is about the desire of the players out there now, there isn’t much of that on show, Ten Haag in my opinion is a poor manager and Utd need to get him gone before they can rebuild, which they need big time
That's fair. I certainly don't see Ten Hag as the manager to win us the PL or CL. But we've been so far away from that for a decade and counting anyway, and I'm sure we'd have been in contention for top 4 with him again this year but for the injuries.
But moving forward then, yeah, United are finally getting some good people in place in important roles. And the youth levels are looking very strong. Next thing is definitely another rebuild of the first team squad and probably best getting a new manager in place for that.
The trouble is, there's isn't really any obvious managerial option out there that you could say was in any way elite or a certainty to do well. Really not sure who we should go for.
