He was a decent cricketer too, played for Scotland at that as well.

I played against him in one of the highly competitive northern leagues. He hit me for 28 runs in one over. I remember it clearly even though it was a long time ago. After being hit for two sixes off the first two balls, I thought I’d change the pace and bowl him a slower delivery. It came out all wrong and he was greeted with a slow, looping full toss which he promptly despatched out of the ground. Our keeper ran down to me and said “What was that?”. “It was my slower one”, I replied. “Well stop fucking bowling them” was his no nonsense response.

Brilliant. Of course he was in goal against England in Euro 96 when Gazza scored that wonder goal. When they were walking off at full-time Gazza made a beeline for The Goalie, who promptly said "If you say a single word to me I'll fucking kill you".
