Does anyone know if they can’t shut the roof with snow? Weight and all that. Only if they didn’t shut it today, when would they shut it? What a waste of money!

Wembley couldn't shut the retractable roof tonight.

Because, apart from the slidey bits at each end for extra sunlight, they don't have one.

EDIT TO ADD: are those end bits open? I'm watching on a really shitty stream and I can't tell!

My mistake  I always thought it was a completely covered stadium if required. You live and learn.

It’s never been satisfactorily explained in my opinion.

Why design it like that if it’s not retractable? I’m sure that all the articles when it was first planned stated that it could mean that the FA Cup Final would be played under cover if required and the usual newspapers calling it a scandal!

It’s almost as though they realised it was unworkable but would cost too much to change the design at that stage... ;)

I think this is where my confusion comes from, like you i’m Sure they stated before the build the exact same as you said.

Did they ever play any of the cup finals in Cardiff under the roof? Can't remember.
