Just as a matter of interest, does anyone here have more than a passing interest in the MK woman's team? It's just that I was getting stick from a man and woman at work just because I said, when asked, that I don't watch the England, Wales, etc Women's internationals on the TV as it doesn't really interest me. They were saying how good it was and that I should, but they support Chelsea and Man City and when I asked if they watch those clubs Women's teams, or could even name a player from them, they admitted they couldn't. And to be honest I can't with the Dons Ladies, even though I know it's included on the clubs site. Just wondered if anyone here actually has an interest in them that in any genuine way comes close to that of the men's team?

My dear chap, if you had taken the trouble to watch the English girls this week you would have seen some much more enterprising and effective play than we have been getting from the Don's blokes lately.

The women's game has improved immensely in the last year or two and is well worth watching.

I should hope that the standard of the Women's England national team - the cream of the crop of talent - is better than the bottom half of the men's 3rd tier! A fairer comparison would be MK Dons Ladies to MK Dons Men but I guess, as was the theme of my post, you have little knowledge of the Ladies domestic level. I have watched the national games and they're OK but I find it frustrating that people slag off the men's game for being "non-contact" nowadays (which it is compared to the 70's), and yet endlessly praise the Ladies game despite there being even less physical and aerial battles in them than in the modern days men's game. I can watch them but they feel like watching a friendly in the men's game so I don't go out of my way to watch it. And I guess from the lack of responses that there aren't many MK Ladies fans on here.

I don’t watch a lot of games but highlights I do. And the games in tournaments are genuinely pretty exciting. The quality isn’t as good as the men’s game but the games and entertainment are. It’s getting better all the time

I'll watch the England ladies if it's the Euros or World Cup. I remember staying up to watch them in the semi-finals of the World Cup a couple of years back in Canada and it was a pretty exciting game.

Our ladies team seem to be doing pretty well, just like our U18 side.

Maybe not so much yet, but I predict that the Ladies' game will grow rapidly until the biased media will be forced to take more notice. ( even our own club website )

I can see the day coming eventually when all clubs will have a ladies' team playing in a fully structured league divisional set up. They are halfway there already.

I just hope that they don't start copying the less desirable aspects of the male game such as diving, arguing with decisions, professional fouls etc.

Re: until the biased media forced to take more notice. Considering that the average attendance of the biggest Ladies team is only 2,000 and that all the rest are below that and many even below 1,000, then I would say the Women's game gets enough coverage for what is currently a minority sport in terms of interest. Many men's sports have been going for over a hundred years, and get much bigger crowds than women's football, but they too get far little attention than men's football. It's not a bias it's simple supply and demand. People want to read about and watch Men's football more than any other sport, male or female. Women's football can't expect to get way more attention than other much more popular sports just because the men's game is so hugely popular. When the domestic game has a genuine fan base that justifies a lot of media attention then it should get it; but I don't understand why it expects to get an unmerited amount of media attention in order to create an increase of interest, when the very industry of the media is to reflect what people already watch and want to read about.
