It seems that every season a new referees directive comes out, we are told refs are going to clampdown on it, for a few weeks there are a flurry of instances of refs acting on the particular directive, then over the coming weeks and months, numerous incidents go unpunished.
Holding in the box was this or last seasons directive, and I think we fell foul of it in the early days of the season, but it seems to go unpunished now, every corner and free kick into the box in last nights Sheff Utd v Villa was like a brawl, but ref Mason chose to ignore them.
Previous directives also seem to have been forgotten, what happened to the keeper six second rule, the ref moving the ball forward 10 yards if free kicks are disputed, have these directives been rescinded ?

I agree with all up say. It's as if they make a point for a few games then go back to how it was. VAR at the Villa game would have been interesting when using look at the Salah penalty.
